First Monday Meeting

Our first Monday meeting at OAKNM went smoothly. Those of us in attendance have reached out to a couple of state legislators and we are excited to see how we can affect positive change in the education of children in New Mexico. The presentation by David Hodges of the Institute for Justice was very informational.

It gave us hope for our state. Mr. Hodges, an attorney on IJ’s Educational Choice Team, worked on the landmark Supreme Court case Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue, which they won in 2020. This decision opened the way for states to implement true school choice and educational freedom for its citizens. Since this decision, 14 states have passed educational choice bills for their states, and we are hopeful New Mexico will soon follow.
